Jaw dropping feats of agility and adroitness - Physical Theatre at Brighton Festival and Fringe 2013

Rosie Davis, Guest Blogger and fellow Fringer has returned to share her love of physical theatre and recommend a few shows to watch.
~  The Brighton Festival and Fringe have included a spectacular array of physical theatre in their programmes.  Here are the top four shows that will leave your jaw dropping.

Knee Deep - by Casus

TONIGHT 18 May 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Theatre Royal

Casus are a Brisbane based circus company that use their bodies, physical strengths and limitations to present a show that is receiving praise from critics across the international media. The company formed in 2011 and the four performers (Emma Serjeant, Jesse Scott, Natano Fa’anana and Lachlan McAulay) are highly acclaimed in their own right. This is a sensitive, emotional and humorous piece that uses the rawness of their own bodies and the connection between each other to capture the audience. Expect stunning choreography using silks, trapeze and some mind-boggling moments using eggs, a nail and a hammer!

This is an outdoor event that will give all ages the chance to see highly acclaimed physical theatre for free. Faust is Goethe’s tragic play set during the Speakeasy era of the 1920s when drinking, gambling and womanising was abundant, with Faust manipulated into a deal with the devil. The play is told using flaming cocktails, burning boxing rings, breakdancing, Lindy Hop, Charleston and big-band music.
